How Does Luggage Transfer Work?

Our luggage transfer service is designed to make your Camino experience more comfortable, but it’s also a carefully coordinated logistics operation. Each morning, our drivers collect dozens of bags from multiple accommodations and deliver them to different destinations, all within a limited time frame.

Your cooperation in having your luggage ready on time helps ensure that the process runs smoothly not just for you, but for every fellow pilgrim along the route.

What time is luggage collected and delivered?

  1. Please have your luggage ready for collection by 8:00 AM, even if pick-up happens later.
  2. Collection can occur any time in the morning (e.g. 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM), depending on the transporter's route that day.
  3. Your luggage is usually delivered to your next hotel by 5:00 PM at the latest.
  4. This is a shared logistics system, and delays in one pickup affect all following deliveries.
👕 Tip: Pack a change of clothes (e.g., underwear and t-shirt) in your daypack, in case of delays.

How should I label my luggage?

  1. Use the official luggage tags provided.
  2. Write your full name and trip reference number clearly.
  3. You can optionally add your mobile phone number for easier contact.

Do I have to carry my luggage to the room?

  1. Yes. Hotels are not responsible for bringing your bag to your room.
  2. In accommodations without lifts, you may need to carry it upstairs yourself.

When do I need to carry my luggage myself?

You MUST take your luggage with you if:
  1. You are not walking or cycling to your next destination.
  2. You are using public transport or a private transfer that day.
The luggage transfer only operates for walking and cycling stages.

Is there a size or weight limit?

Yes, weight limits vary by country. Please respect these to avoid delays or extra fees.

Spain, Portugal & Italy 🇪🇸🇵🇹🇮🇹

  • Max weight: 18–20 kg per bag
  • Ideal packing: 18 kg to allow flexibility
  • Max size: 50 x 80 x 30 cm
  • Overweight fee:
    • €15/day (walkers)
    • €30/day (cyclists)
    • You’ll have 1 day to fix it or your bag will stop being transferred
  • Next day solution: Split into two bags
    • €10/day extra bag (walkers)
    • €20/day extra bag (cyclists)
❗ Important: Please note that bags over 25 kg will not be transported, even for one day.
Our drivers handle many bags each day, and excessive weight can pose a serious risk of injury.

  • Max weight: 10–13 kg per bag
  • Overweight bags will NOT be transported

💡 Tip: If you’re unsure about your luggage weight, a small handheld scale is a smart investment. They’re inexpensive, easy to use, and can help you avoid any last-minute surprises or extra charges.

What counts as an extra bag?

Loose items like boots or daypacks attached to your main bag count as an extra piece.



Can I travel with the luggage transporter?

No, for insurance and safety reasons, luggage handlers are only licensed to carry goods, not passengers. You will need to arrange your own transport if you’re not walking or cycling.
